AI for Humanity

Technology, including artificial intelligence, should work for people and our planet, not vice versa. Join this Action Lab to cut through the noise about artificial intelligence, better understand how philanthropy can engage with today’s technological innovation, and discover opportunities for partnership and impact.

What is the AI for Humanity Action Lab about?

The AI for Humanity Action Lab (AIAL) is a collaboration between Forward Global, Omidyar Network, and the Effective Institutions Project that helps members:

• Better understand the role philanthropists can play in engaging with AI to ensure it leads to improved social and environmental outcomes for people and the planet
• Find and access curated, high-impact opportunities for action

The AIAL convenes monthly for six 90 minute sessions through the end of 2024, with the possibility to extend the Action Lab into 2025 as participants deem appropriate. We encourage participants to share ideas and funding opportunities outside of these sessions and to avoid direct, unsolicited pitching during the live sessions. In doing so, we hope to protect the space for candid and open discussion and learning.

What will we cover in the sessions?
  • Our holistic approach considers the benefits and harms of AI, today and in the future. Topics will include:

•  Introduction to AI
•  Policy and Governance
•  Jobs and Economy
•  Social Connection
•  The Private Sector’s Role
