AI for Humanity
Technology, including artificial intelligence, should work for people and our planet, not vice versa. Join this Action Lab to cut through the noise about artificial intelligence, better understand how philanthropy can engage with today’s technological innovation, and discover opportunities for partnership and impact.
The AI for Humanity Action Lab (AIAL) is a collaboration between Forward Global and Omidyar Network. We launched the lab in response to requests from Forward Global members, and in partnership with Omidyar Network’s efforts to promote the inclusive and responsible development of generative artificial intelligence (AI).
The AIAL convenes monthly for six 90 minute sessions through the end of 2024, with the possibility to extend the Action Lab into 2025 as participants deem appropriate. We encourage participants to share ideas and funding opportunities outside of these sessions and to avoid direct, unsolicited pitching during the live sessions. In doing so, we hope to protect the space for candid and open discussion and learning.”

AI is changing the world as we know it, with risks and opportunities for democracy, climate, human rights, education, health and more. This Action Lab is an excellent and easy way to stay in the loop and better understand how your approach can mitigate systemic risks, and make the most of the opportunities, even if this is not your direct funding area.
We encourage those who are interested to join an upcoming session, and then decide if you would like to participate going forward. While a commitment helps build an intimate and trusted peer space for all participants, we understand that it may not be possible to join all sessions. The Action Lab will remain open across the year—all new participants will be invited to introduce themselves to the group in their first session, in order to ensure intimacy and trust.
