AI for Humanity: Policy & Governance Register

June 6 @ 9:00 am 10:30 am UTC+0

Given how novel the issues and challenges around AI are, we find ourselves in a critical window of opportunity to shape foundational norms and regulatory frameworks that could positively influence the development and deployment of AI. These mechanisms can include imposing guidelines around the ethical development of AI, supporting research on ways in which AI systems create or exacerbate systematic disadvantages, and advocating for policies and corporate structures that share AI-derived wealth and the benefits of innovation broadly across society. Policy experts are also advocating for and implementing guardrails on AI across a number of spheres, spanning both internal controls within companies that are developing powerful AI systems as well as legal controls in jurisdictions in which AI labs operate. This session will provide a rundown of key issues and players in the regulatory landscape and how to get involved.
