Joint Action Needed: Protecting $20B in Climate Progress Together
Given the number of urgent funding requests and news updates that all of us are receiving right now – especially those in the U.S. given the current political environment – it is easy to feel overwhelmed by choices, asks, and needs. And yet, with the latest aggressive moves to illegally attempt to seize $20B in Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund (GGRF) resources, we also know that this is a pivotal moment where climate funders can step in and make a significant impact to protect resources and progress. While you can act in many ways, we believe that a coordinated effort can be especially powerful and that this opportunity is worth paying attention to.
We invite you to join a private call where we will hear from partners who are on the frontlines of these climate funding cuts and can speak to the current challenge and how funders can take immediate action to protect critical money that many have worked so hard to secure.
On this call, we will discuss:
– What is the Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund? What activities does it fund?
- – What is at stake? What illegal actions have been taken to try to terminate this program and the potential long-term consequences? How will this likely play out?
- – What is needed now? How can we maintain program operations and compliance during the current (and urgent) phase of litigation and disruption in program funding?
- – How can individual funders make an immediate impact and why here? How can we kickstart 3 possible solutions to save this $20B climate funding program, which could very well be the last big federal investment in climate work in the US for a number of years.
