Community Land Trusts in NYC

March 7 @ 10:00 am 1:30 pm UTC-5

Are you interested in learning more about community wealth-building to combat displacement? Join a site visit to the South Bronx hosted by the New Economy Project in the lead-up to the 2024 Global Summit. This visit will offer an opportunity to better understand how Community Land Trusts can provide a path forward for communities facing displacement and housing affordability challenges in NYC and beyond.

We will meet with members of the South Bronx Unite/Mott Haven-Port Morris Community Land Stewards who will provide context on how their grassroots housing, land, and economic justice activism began and will take us on a tour of the South Bronx Waterfront and areas that are now being revitalized under Community Land Trust (CLT) stewardship. We will discuss how CLTs are a grassroots strategy that can lend itself to long term systemic change with Deyanira Del Rio & Elise Golden from the New Economy Project.

This site visit will be held Thursday, March 7 from 10:00am – 1:30pm EST/local time in the South Bronx, a 40 minute trip from Lower Manhattan. This visit is open to Forward Global members and will include a walking tour, panel discussion and Q&A, and lunch. Registration is now closed. For more information, please contact Jaspar Leahy at
