In light of the recent $1.1 billion in federal budget rescissions targeting public media, local news outlets across the U.S. are facing devastating shortfalls — especially those in rural and under-resourced communities. Building on the conversations we’ve had with Press Forward, we know that these local news stations provide critical and trusted civic services and are essential to thriving, healthy communities around the country. The question many of us are asking is then: where do we go from here and what can we do?
Given the urgency, we are hosting a 60-minute briefing call on Wednesday, August 13 at 9am PT / 12pm ET to discuss what’s next and how each of us can play a role to help stabilize, sustain, and reimagine local public media.
