Research shows that good health is directly correlated with civic engagement and voting behavior. This month, Vot-ER Executive Director Aliya Bhatia will share how Vot-ER empowers patients and healthcare professionals to address the root causes of health disparities through civic participation. With over 700 participating sites and 30,000 healthcare professionals, Vot-ER’s innovative approach uplifts patients’ voices to shape local, state, and federal health policy through the power of their vote. We’ll explore the critical role of healthcare facilities and health professionals as trusted messengers for democracy, with a focus on youth engagement. In addition, Aliya will discuss Vot-ER’s collaboration with 350 institutional partners as a model for creating industry-wide change.
We will have 15-minute pre-session “office hours” at 9:45am PDT | 12:45pm EDT open to anyone interested in joining early to ask specific democracy-related questions of our facilitators and/or peers (or simply to say hello).
