Around the world, authoritarian populism continues to gain ground – even in European countries long considered strongholds of democracy. Nations across the continent are experiencing worrying declines in electoral integrity, civil liberties, and rule of law. What does good civic leadership look like at this moment? What are the opportunities for funders in Europe, and beyond, to safeguard democratic institutions? Lisa Witter, Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founder, Apolitical, will join us to examine the European democracy landscape, discuss the impact of shifting U.S. strategy and policy, and offer guidance for funders.
We will have 15-minute post-session “office hours” at 9:15am PDT | 12:15pm EDT | 5:15pm BST open to anyone interested in staying on to continue the session conversation or ask specific democracy-related questions of our facilitators and/or Forward Global peers.
