The Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) has dominated the news as it makes dramatic cuts to the federal workforce. What is behind these cuts, and what might be the impact? Joining us for our April DAL is Harvard Kennedy School Professor Elizabeth Linos, who recently discussed these questions on NPR’s Fresh Air. She is Faculty Director of The People Lab, which researches how to recruit, retain, and support the government workforce, increase public trust in government, and integrate evidence-based policymaking. Professor Linos will also discuss how attitudes towards federal workers in the United States compare to other contexts globally, particularly drawing on her experience advising the Prime Minister of Greece during their financial crisis.
Immediately following this 75-minute session, we will continue with an optional 15-minute “office hours” for anyone interested in continuing the conversation and/or asking additional questions.
