Homelessness in San Francisco: How Innovative Financing Creates Housing Security Register

January 30 @ 12:00 pm 4:00 pm UTC-8

We will start our site visit on the prevention end of the spectrum with TNDC, touring 921 Howard, a brand new development that offers workforce housing for individuals and families who are at risk of being displaced from San Francisco. Donor Keith Geeslin will be on hand to discuss how a loan from his DAF allows affordable housing projects like these to start construction immediately, and will later return assets to his DAF account. Next, we will tour Tahanan, which offers permanent supportive housing for adults who have experienced homelessness. Experts from Housing Accelerator Fund and Mercy Housing California will lead us in a discussion around housing financing; Tahanan was built in half the time and at 30% lower expense than comparable projects. Learn how innovative financing methods are becoming a blueprint for providing housing security to all of our neighbors here in the Bay Area.

The session will be four hours long, in person on Tuesday, January 30 starting at 12 noon PT. Please note that this program is open to active Forward Global members; if you are interested in a trial membership of our global community of philanthropists and social change makers, please contact Alisa Tantraphol, Managing Director, Americas West, at alisa@forward-global.org.
