Location: Vancouver

Impact Studio: Vancouver Register

April 12 @ 9:30 am 2:00 pm UTC+0

Have you ever wondered how to know if your funding is making a difference? Or found it difficult to assess your own impact, as opposed to just your grantees’?

Join this Impact Studio taking place in-person in Vancouver, for an interactive workshop that will leave you with better answers to the above questions, and more. Participants will review key concepts in impact assessment for social change, including systems and complexity, theories of change, attribution / contribution, and equitable evaluation. Using their own work and other case studies, participants will have the opportunity to consider equitable, rigorous and useful monitoring, learning and evaluation strategies for assessing change with grantees, funders and co-decision makers.

The objectives of this program are:

  • Participants leave with a better understanding of the key concepts in impact assessment for social change
  • Participants leave with practical tools and frameworks to better understand their impact as a funder
  • Participants leave feeling better equipped to discuss impact and learning with grantees, funders, and co-decision makers

This program is designed for any Forward Global members seeking a better understanding of impact assessment and learning, and how it applies to their own practice. It will be led by Dr. Karen Snyder, an expert in rigorous, systematic, and participatory approaches to improve policies and practices in labour, anti-trafficking, human rights, health, and the environment. This program will be held on Friday April 12th, 9:30am – 2:00pm local time, in Vancouver, BC. If you have any questions, please contact Lisa Wolverton, President, Canada at

Participants are encouraged to watch two short videos in advance of the session, here, as a summary of the core ideas that we will cover during the session.

What are Forward Global Studios?

Forward Global Studios are highly interactive, expert-led programmes designed for members looking to go deeper on a particular practice or skill. They invite you to bring forward a challenge you are working on and to workshop the challenge with the expert, using tried and tested frameworks designed to help you overcome barriers and move forward. The experts leading Forward Global Studios are some of the most important, talented and globally recognised leaders in the field, making this a unique opportunity. Examples include the Systems Studio (on systems mapping and systems change), Impact Studio (on impact assessment and evaluation) and Storytelling Studio (on public narrative).

Studio participation is limited to members who have completed the Cohort or an Essentials, and so have the foundational concepts and languages required to go deeper. If you would like to join a Studio but haven’t completed these programmes, please reach out to your Relationship Manager for advice.
