The New Economy Action Lab (NEAL) builds on the efforts of the Equity & Justice Action Lab to understand the role of funders and wealth-holders in contributing to social justice, starting from the premise that diversity and inclusion initiatives are not a substitute for deeper structural change.
In this session we are joined by Brian Kettenring and Daniel Vockins of the recently launched Global Fund for a New Economy, whose mission is to strengthen the infrastructure for the New Economy movement across the world.
We will:
- Revisit the definition of the “New Economy” movement and the areas that remain contested
- Discuss how the movement is evolving differently in countries including the US, UK, Canada, Brazil and across the world
- Map some of the major funders in this space and the unique role of individual philanthropists
- Explore some of the major challenges and opportunities for philanthropy
