Following the briefing we hosted in August to discuss the impact of federal budget decisions on public media and local news outlets across the country, we’d like to reconvene as a group and talk through what decisions you’ve made, where you might be stuck, and what you could do as October approaches. As a reminder, federal funding will be cut at the start of the Fiscal Year 2026, which begins October 1, 2025. So this is still a critical time when news stations need that extra buffer support to stay afloat with the aim of drawing bigger money in the months ahead.
If you care about protecting local communities and ensuring they have the resources they need to stay informed, please join, bring your questions and share openly with your peers why you’re doing what you are. It’s conversations like these that we can only have as a trusted group and – we hear this every time – it’s these conversations that are the most activating and energizing at a time when we all need some good news too.
