Six months since our first call with Press Forward, and we’ve seen the need to invest in local news to protect our democracy and support communities only become more urgent and serious. A healthy and independent local news ecosystem is a critical pillar in the fight against authoritarianism (more here) – and we’ve seen that there are plenty of opportunities to invest directly in good news while simultaneously strengthening the other areas in which you fund.
With this backdrop, we invite you to join an open conversation with your fellow Forward Global peers on June 12 at 9am PT / 12pm ET. We’ll discuss:
• How are you thinking differently about local news than you were six months ago? What have you learned?
• What are you considering or what have you already done?
• How might we encourage other funders to see that investing in local news is essential to any strategy?
