Being Moral in Amoral Times
Join us for an inspiring conversation with Dr. David Kyuman Kim, Founder and Principal of Being Human, whom Cornel West calls “the leading philosopher of religion and culture of his generation.” Dr. Kim will ground us in how to meet the defining crises of our moment in a deeply human way. After the brief talk and Q&A, there will be plenty of time to mix and mingle with Forward Global members, old and new.

About Dr. David Kyuman Kim
Dr. David Kyuman Kim is a philosopher, public intellectual, and educator whose work asks the questions that institutions most need and least make time for: What do we owe each other? What does it mean to lead with moral seriousness? What does justice actually require of us — not in principle, but in practice?
He is the Founder and Principal of Being Human, a public moral education platform that brings the practice of moral inquiry to campuses, foundations, and civic institutions across the country. He also serves as Senior Advisor to the Global Philanthropy Forum, working alongside leaders and funders at the intersection of purpose, impact, and responsibility.
His academic appointments span Stanford, Brown, the University of Pennsylvania, UC Berkeley, and the Social Science Research Council. He is the author of Melancholic Freedom: Agency and the Spirit of Politics (Oxford University Press). Cornel West calls him “the leading philosopher of religion and culture of his generation.” Maria Shriver has named him an architect of change.
In “Being Moral in Amoral Times,” he brings the moral imagination to bear on one of the defining questions of our moment — and asks what philanthropy, at its best, has always asked: What are we willing to do about it?
