While each of us comes to The Family Table with unique families, experiences and aspirations, we gather because both family and societal well-being matter to us. Shared family giving can be a unifying force across generations, but it can also add strain. It takes hard work for a family to team well. How we structure our wealth and philanthropy can impact how we team – as families, as businesses, as foundations – and yet our structures (involving power and control) are often poorly understood or examined given their legal complexity. In this session, we will explore how love, power and purpose intersect and impact our family systems. Together with Michelle Osry of A&O Partners, we will explore how families must engage with both power & love to create a family culture to fuel purpose and impact. During this interactive session, Michelle will share stories and examples of how family culture impacts our wealth structures (and vice versa) and will facilitate a group discussion so participants gain new perspectives, strategies and approaches to apply within their own families.
