Join us with Inspirit Foundation over appetizers and drinks, featuring journalist Tai Huynh and Inspirit CEO Sadia Zaman. As authoritarianism continues to grow around the world, independent journalism is often under attack. Sadia and Tai will speak about the role of independent journalism, civic engagement, and democracy.
Speaker Bio
Tai Huynh is the founding editor-in-chief and publisher of The Local, an innovative, non-profit newsroom that brings in-depth, investigative journalism to local issues affecting communities in the Greater Toronto Area. Under his leadership, The Local has won over two dozen national awards in just five short years, changed public policy in a variety of ways, and brought journalism to corners of the city often ignored or misunderstood. In 2025, Tai received the National Magazine Award’s Editor Grand Prix, the highest honour for a magazine editor in Canada. He has a Master’s in Design from OCAD University and an MBA from York University.
